for the kitchen poll

Figured figured I should show a picture of the kitchen as it is now, with as much of the future appliance scheme as possible, hopefully it will help with the voting process! Please vote:)

and got away with it!

Okay so here is my drywall patch three days, two skims and sandings later... looks just the same as if I screwed it and taped it in place. So I'm going to the store to pick out some possible paint colors. Presently it is a creamy butter yellow... I kinda like it, had planned on doing basically the same color, but silly me I opened my mouth and asked the hubby for his input expecting - anything but green, instead I got, "how about we find a darker sage/olive color." Huh? So now I'm torn, I'm not sure how t hat would look and if it would make the kitchen look smaller, I kinda like all the bright piney looks. Of course hubby had a great point with the stainless steel appliances the whole kitchen will have a different look and feel. I dunno. Let's do a poll!

totally gross pumpkin

Guess what we just finished doing... yup making an extreme pumpkin... kinda gross, but we are totally loving it! The boys had a terrific time picking out which worms to stick in the various holes on the pumpkin. Next I think we will do the skull on a stake, then the exposed brains pumpkin... yeah having some this year!

Thank You Uncle Jon!

So the boys are having a complete fixation with cameras, and we had bought one for the little man awhile back, probably for his 3rd birthday, but he kept taking pictures of his face not anything else... I think he just liked the noises it made. Well Uncle Jon sent another one out for Christmas last year and we just set it aside knowing that eventually the day would come to be able to give them to both the boys and that day came two nights ago. The little guy was begging to use mine so while the little man was asleep hubby let the the little guy play with the red one... only problem was come bedtime he would not let it go. Yesterday when he woke up instead of coming and waking me or the little man up he went straight for the camera. Of course the little man wasn't happy about sharing, and as an avid photographer I can understand that, the picture is in the moment, and what if that moment was when they were sharing... Uncle Jon's present to the rescue and all is happy in this photo crazy household... THANX!!!!!!!

I cheated

I decided to see if I could cheat and get away with it... so far so good... this area of wall is drywall directly over horse hair slat wall so screwing these two tiny patches would have been difficult I'd have had to cut some huge chunks away and get into the horse hair plaster... uhmmmmmmmmm... no thanks, so I got some paper did an exact outline trace of the holes, cut the drywall pieces so tight that I had to literally push hard to get them in the hole, nice and snug and I used craft glue to double secure them. I'm thinking that hey they are behind the stove, not a high traffic area, no hands should encounter them, no pressure... I'm going to skim some spackle over it, let it dry, sand and see how bad it looks. Hopefully it'll be fine. I'm going to buy the remaining cabinet we need today, and hopefully get that in place this week, and start on the luan for the tile. I'll have to take some progress pics... I never do, but see I started so perhaps I'll keep it up! Off to go locate the spackle!!!!

my space vs facebook

So I went on my space a little over a year ago since some co-workers were talking it up... thought I'd see what the fuss was and see if I could find anyone from live's gone by... not so much. I joined facebook about a month ago and wow all these people are there from long long ago... it's kinda cool, maybe my space is just missed on my peeps from the good ole days.

Onward and upward with household set backs. We did receive our NEW fridge this week, I'm still miffed... more money and it's not as state of the art... on the plus side I'm not camping anymore out of a cooler, it does actually work! Now I'm making prepartions for our new? stove. I had to clean off and move a cabinet to get to 2 holes that needed to be dry walled. Working on that has sent me into an allergic fit... but it will get done! I guess once that is worked on I should drop some luan into the space between the cabinets where the stove will go and tile there... although I really wanted to start tiling in a corner not in the middle of a wall... I've got 11 days... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... yeah, well see now I'm setting the brain in motion... if I start from the foyer with full tiles... which maybe would be the smart thing, I really only have to tile a small hallway and a strip in front of the 3 foot wide cabinet to get to the stove, the luan is the easy part... so maybe not so complicated... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh... sleep will elude me this week I see it already. I start midnight shifts this week... plus we will be moving 2 tons of wood pellets on Monday... yeah, maybe I should just be impressed if I get the holes completed!

Refrigerator hell

So we got our wonderful brand new, from the warehouse fridge delivered on Saturday... only the sales chic lied and sold us the floor model... dents dings and all. There ensued a battle between Best Buy and us immediately. And it was determined that we could keep fridge for as long as it took to get a replacement delivered, mostly because of the little guys PKU medical necessity... so let's add some insult to injury... after two hours the dang thing wasn't even cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! needless to say my Saturday was not very pleasant, and since the floor model was the only one in the eastern coast, we couldn't just get a new one like we were told, and since everything comparable was way out of our price range we had to settled on something slightly less advanced FOR MORE MONEY!!!! Needless to say I personally will never recommend buying something from Best Buy ever!

The new fridge arrived yesterday and yes it's nice, but I'm still just feeling totally shafted. The really sad thing is the poor delivery guys... they were totally cool, and I felt so bad for them... it's not their fault at all, they just deliver the product, so when I started asking them questions I saw their faces kinda go all screwy... I thought the one guy was going to go postal when he returned to the store!!!! Very nice guys... and I just want to say that if ever you have something delivered that isn't quite right... it's not the delivery guys fault (unless they damage your home or product), be nice to them and they will give you ways to get what you need. I will say we paid about 500.00 less then the sale price of our new fridge because they told us who to talk to and what to say!

Now wouldn't it be nice if we had the money to fill the fridge... I mean fill it to over spilling... one can hope.
